Registration

Exam sites make every effort to accommodate participants who have special requirements. The nature and degree of these requirements must be stated on the registration form, and then confirmed by an attestation from a doctor. The exam locations must also respect and maintain confidentiality.
If a student has three exams scheduled on the same day, it is recommended that they contact their instructor or department to arrange an exam to make up. Although it is possible to take three tests in one day, it could result in an increase in stress levels and could affect the quality of the exam. Additionally, the instructor may not be able to give a makeup exam on another day.
Students must go through their course materials prior to taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test which assesses the ability to read, speak and write in German. The results of the exam are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who successfully pass the test receive a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has achieved language level A1. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competence that is outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free of charge. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Anyone who does not have a valid photo identification will be disqualified.
Fees
